Had the day off from work. Walked to the festival from Haight. Walk wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. First on the agenda was Steel Pulse. Great set to start of the day/festival. Walked over to check out Beck. However, since there was still a bit of time before his set, decided to walk back to main area to check out Manu Chao. It was a nightmare walking through. Some folks ended up tearing down part of the fence and walking through. Had never heard Manu Chao before but liked his set. Tried meeting up with friends and/or some coworkers but there was no reception whatsoever, which made meeting up with folks near impossible. Did manage to meet up with one group. By this time, I had given up on going back over to check out Beck. While making our way through the crowd to stake out a spot for Radiohead, crowd parted a little bit and bumped into another friend. I call it a miracle that we were able to find one another. Crowd got way too packed so we went over to the VIP viewing area, which was so much nicer. As for Radiohead? Eh, I'm not a fan by any sort of the imagination. Only song I could pick out if they played it would be Creep (which they did not play by the way).
Getting out was quite a mess. Had already figured we would let the crowd die down before we tried hopping on bus or trying for a cab. Went to a neighborhood bar we knew of but by time we got there the place was packed. Ended up walking another 6 or so blocks to another bar, which wasn't as bad. I ended up sharing a cab with 5 other random folks home, some of whom had been waiting for the bus for over an hour and a half. Ouch!

Went to check out Devendra Banhart's set at the Outside Lands festival today, in hopes of seeing Natalie Portman. Had heard that she was spotted in town a few days ago and figured she was in town to catch his (her bf's) set. Alas, there was no sighting unfortunately.

One of the things I managed to do while I was out in NYC was to catch a show. Ended up in Brooklyn to catch a band called "The Spinto Band". Also on the bill was a "surprise guest", which turned out to be Ra Ra Riot. They were awesome is pretty much all I can say. Their debut album entitled "The Rhumb Line" came out this past Tuesday and I highly recommend you take a listen to it.
