dying from hair dye!!!
i knowingly dyed my hair back to its original color to be in winter mode but mostly to prevent having to touch up lighter strands in the future. i've previously had severe allergic reactions to hair dye and this has been the last 4 times i've dyed my hair. it took four times to scare me because, while i warned my stylists of getting hair dye on my sensitive scalp, it adhered and went underneath my skin on the backside of my neck, my forehead, and my ears. now i'm experiencing the repercussions by having a swollen neck, bumpy forehead, and enlarged and raw ears (sorry so gross!). this was by far the most severe reaction i've had and had quite a scare as i stayed up making myself even crazier. i realize i am allergic to paraphenylenediamine and while it is extremely common to be allergic to this chemical responsible for giving hair dyes permanence, it can also be fatal! i've never had such an assortment of pills prescribed to me at once....i had 5 pills to ingest at once! - a steroid for the inflammation, an antibiotic for the infection, and an antihistamine for the allergy. on top of this i have a steroid shampoo for my scalp and a topical steroid for my skin. i really did bring this on to myself but that's what i gotta do to get rid of the fug roots.beauty is pain!!
oh i'd have to add that to add to the science experiment of a sight i am....i have bandaged my ears entirely and am sporting a do-rag while at home. it's great that i could laugh about it because i really am a funny sight.

Oh wow, Mimi, I'm sorry to hear that. That really sucks. I hope you feel better.
By the way, did you let your hairdresser know? Did they offer to do anything about it?
Geez. I stopped dying my hair after I realized that being in the water too many times will give my hair that washed-out/dry look. It's dry enough as it is! :)

It's really my fault...I sacrificed to get rid of the overgrown roots. My hairdresser knew and she stayed away from my scalp but I failed to protect everything else. Yay to steroids!! I'm all better with some minor skin irritation :) Thanks for posting again!

Does your stylist offer organic hair dyes? I would look into that. I'm not sure if it's as strong as the chemical-based dyes, but it won't make you feel as if your scalp is burning.

yes sister(hazel) you are right...no more of that for me. now i have black hair *boohoo. i'm goth lol.
hi mona! i would have to use organic hair dyes in the future because these are ppd-fre. its not even that my scalp was burning because it wasn't at all...it was the multiple severe reactions afterward. consider yourself lucky if you are one of those who could have a colorist do whatever she pleases on your mane. thanks for the comment ;)
