but somehow i felt the overly-dramatic pace of the season opener felt so coerced (ER-ish!). most people have become so attached to this show because of the whole mcdreamy and meredith intrigue but i like that the writers are starting to add more depth to the lives of the other characters. what i loved about the opener were the use of flashbacks for the viewer to gain insight on their past. it was very touching, moving, and it grounded my sympathy for everyone.

i feel badly when people give up on their relationships....especially in the context of a failed marriage. i think i am uncommon in hoping for everyone in the triangle to move on....addison to leave, meredith to see the good in walking away and giving finn a chance...and mcdreamy to get a dose of reality. he has been stringing both parties along....appeasing all his selfish needs while clinging to his emotional indecisiveness (and geez we are being set-up for witnessing meredith go through this, too). total hate for him in this department. i wish for him to make up his mind and commit to it. i wish for meredith to be stronger and smarter rather than dropping her panties because of her weak heart. while i don't condone addison's behavior or infidelity...she is the only one who has a strong head on her shoulders and sometimes thats just what you need to get through.

i hope this week's episode and those following will stick to the usual format of being less intense with operating rooom medical drama and more focused on the relationship aspect. the writers often parallel the patients with the characters and this has always worked.
