not just another reality show

my last tv blog entry was about project runway but when my boss at work mentioned HGTV's Designstar, i was immediately intrigued. the lure of Project Runway to me is the designer/artist perspective and with Design Star, they have 10 designers/architects who compete in weekly challenges...and of course get voted off based on the performance/drama they bring. i've only seen the first episode and i've been able to identify with some of the contenders. i'm biased and am definitely rooting for the architects above all. in particular, there's a struggling-architect type guy from Boston who i found to be humble and talented but was unfortunately sent home on the 2nd episode. and there's also a young, energetic 26-yr old interiors gal from New Jersey who is doing really well so far. i have yet to see all their talents play out but i highly recommend this show. for the first challenge, the designers had to work off a budget to decorate their contestant quarters and my two faves were actually the shining players.

the jersey girl looks really young but is really firm in defending her work and she won the first challenge! i have to deal with "looking" young all the time!....yes i am too young to have a ten-year old but when i'm on the construction site....i want to make sure no one doubts my abilities. my position at my new firm really lets me own my responsibilites and its been boosting my confidence in the industry. i can now propel to get my architect's license. i recently inquired about getting licensed as an architect on guam and they denied entertaining this until getting licensed in Calfornia because currently i don't qualify as a Guam resident...so boo!
